Assessment tests are usually a requirement when your child enrolls in a new school. The same with homeschool providers. At TMA, the Otis-Lennon School Ability Test (OLSAT) is used for the year-end tests to measure a child's cognitive skills deemed important for successful learning. In general it is a requirement for the students to gain entry to the next-level. The result of your child's OLSAT will gauge his or her standing in relation to other students of the same age. It will tell you which areas your child is good at and which areas he/she needs to improve on. There really is no pass or fail, to my knowledge, but there could be exceptions.
It is not recommended for you to review your child for this. In my opinion it is best for a child to get used to taking up these kind of tests. Our kids can be very knowledgeable in their books but if one has never taken a test like this and has no idea how to take it, he might just go blank during the exam. So the key is practice, do you agree?
So here are some of the free materials I have been able to get off the internet and used for my kids to practice with. Hope you find them useful! I will keep adding to this collection and hope to be able to have a good compilation.
