It's possible. It's doable. It can even be fun at times because in my case I can bring my children with me to work, they like to see what I do in the office and I get to take them out to the mall nearby for lunch. I think that's the part that they really like about it.
Quite a while.
Everytime I come here to start to write I get interrupted oh so many times that I never finish a post. Maybe today I'll get lucky and this one post will actually be published!
As I was saying, if you want to homeschool and work at the same time it's possible and doable.
Have I struck that balance between work and homeschool life? Nope. In fact I'm ready to quit work. I am burned out and it just made me realize all the more that I just want to stay home and be with my kids, to teach them what I have to give, laugh with them and watch movies with them.
But see there's this thing I want to teach them... not giving up and working hard. It seems like important principles of life. So I'm kind of in a dilemma. It's hard to work when your kid is telling you to quit work so you can stay home more.
Luckily I have that option to work from home. But I would like to stop working for others all together. (Ooh I hope my business partner doesn't get to read this...) It's not all about the kids, sometimes I just want to have the time to put conditioner on my hair and wash it off too.
When it is in your nature to be hardworking, providing solutions and service to others. and you do it with integrity, money opportunities come to you. It's just automatic. Even if you are just staying at home. I can teach this to my kids right? It sounds good enough to get them through life.
Making money is good and fills in my family needs, but it does not excite me the same way as when my preschooler Codi, who is 7 years old by the way, accomplishes a whole lesson for Math. Whew! I am so glad when we finish a whole lesson without me raising my voice. Codi is in the preparatory level and is now all finished with his curriculum. Yay! So I can let him play all he wants and just let him be while I focus on the older two boys.
When Codi and I have our one on one teaching session, my youngest 3 year-old and unica hija, Haley, would always come and join. She would grab a pen and just start scribbling things. She would say Naghohomeschool din ako! (I am homeschooling too!) And before I know it she is already writing her name, a bit squiggly (and misspelled) but hey I'm proud nonetheless...
Then I know for sure that I have no regrets homeschooling them.
Before I end this post, I'd like to share you this link from a homeschooling blog that I am subscribed to. It's a link to The Learning Basket and they have a workshop happening on March 8 for parents who want to homeschool preschoolers... I might just attend this so here's the link folks:
